I have had a variety of mentors in my past. My boxing coach, Girl Scout leader, my mother...all helped me recognize and develop various talents by taking me outside of my comfort zone. They helped me uncover the often hidden non-traditional paths I could pursue while confronting the fear of not fitting in to predetermined social norms. They assisted me in keeping me in line with my values while realizing the potential that lies within me. They cheered me on from the sidelines and helped pick me up after a fall. From television director to boxing champion to career coach, standing on these mentor's shoulders has helped me become the woman I am today.
I am so proud to announce that I have been selected as a 2018 #EYWABN mentee. I am in amazing company with 24 other women including Olympians, world-class athletes, record holders and leaders that have been chosen for this opportunity! As a Career Coach, my job involves mentoring other athletes and I am excited to have the opportunity to "walk the walk" and be mentored by an amazing and accomplished leader (yet to be announced!). I strongly believe in the power of mentorship to help me fulfill my potential while supporting others in fulfilling theirs. Who is your mentor? Who are you mentoring? How has a mentor made a difference in your life?
If I have seen further it is by standing on the shoulders of giants.
